Some Tips While Driving
The Westcoast Roads:
Travelling along State highway 6 you will enjoy well sealed, marked and maintained road surfaces. Caution is required during the months May through to October when we are prone to frosts. From a personal view I find travelling State Highway 6 picturesque in all kinds of weather.
The native bush; rivers, creeks, streams, the hills and the backdrop of the Southern Alps. The mirrored images of the lakes edging parts of the highway stand pride of place in anyone's album or photographic journal.
During our winter month's it pays to plan your driving between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Should you be travelling North to South or vice versa you will find plenty of well formed walking tracks and places of interest to break your journey.
